I realized that my kids had skyrocketed to the tops of their classes, because of piano lessons.
Piano lessons with Ms. Phillips was harder and required more grit than any of my kids’ school assignments. In the early days, I thought that was out of balance. But as the years passed, I realized that my kids had skyrocketed to the tops of their classes, because of piano lessons.
Taking piano taught them how focus, how to manage their time and how to do careful, excellent work. I now have two kids in medical school and one in engineering school. I believe that growing up with Ms. Phillips’ training had a lot to do with their success.

It’s hard for me to imagine a music teacher who would care for her students more than Ms. Phillips does. She really goes above and beyond to try to meet the needs of my kids.

I had no idea this was possible.
We just came home from our first recital in your studio. I was expecting the usual “kiddie show.”
Oh, my gosh. Every kid—every kid—played confidently and beautifully. No stumbles. No memory blanks. No unmusical pounding. Even the beginners whose pieces were very simple played confidently and musically and they handled themselves with grace.
I had no idea this was possible.

Originally, I thought I was signing up for piano lessons for [my daughter]. But we continue to come for the invaluable character training and parenting advice. Thank you!

Lots of stretching going on here (both my son and myself).
It’s not always comfortable, but it’s good.
Left up to me, I would never ask my child for such excellence. He seems like just a little kid. I guess I don’t really expect much from him.
Sometimes when you insist that he does a certain skill a certain way, I’ll think, “But that’s too hard for him.” Then just about the time I’m ready to step in, you and he prove me wrong. It’s not too hard and he can do it.
Lots of stretching going on here (both my son and myself). It’s not always comfortable, but it’s good. Thank you for showing me not to baby him so much and that he can do great things.

Ms. Phillips seems to know exactly how to communicate with [my son] in a way that is engaging and fun, but still holds to high standards.

Absolutely the most challenging project we have ever undertaken. Also the most wonderful family bonding experience ever.
After many years of hard work, we now love to play together. We’ll be thanking you all our lives.

Sometimes, when I think I’m too tired to practice with [son’s name], I look at the “100 Non-Musical Benefits of Music Training” hand-out and I remind myself that I am shaping this young man’s future with each practice session. That helps me to find just enough energy and resolve for that day.

Ms. Phillips has a ton of experience and structures the lessons very well. Her expertise in the field is unparalleled. She is very good with young kids. She has all the props and tricks to keep the kids focused and interested, and at the same time teaches them valuable lessons that will stay with them for life. She is a genuinely wonderful person and wonderful to work with.

Mrs. Phillips’s creative teaching technique and her profound knowledge of the Suzuki method make her piano lessons very unique to help children excel in their piano skills.
We have seen our twin boys, Winnie and Noni, progress tremendously. They now play with a stronger foundation, enthusiasm and confidence.
It has been a joy and a privilege to have Mrs. Phillips as our sons’ piano teacher.

I’m not sure how she does it, but Ms. Phillips teaches every student how to play well, regardless of their “talent” or their “intelligence” level.
Although it’s hard to make yourself do the daily assignments, it’s actually a simple system: if the parent does the assignments, the student learns to play well. So do it and don’t give up.

The day you told us about your upcoming plans to move away [from California], the girls and I went home and had a good cry. I don’t know who cried harder—them or me.
You are such an important part of our lives, I’m not sure we’ll know how to continue life without you. But we are so happy for you and we wish you well.
Thank you for, well just everything. We are who we are because of you.

Sheryl Phillips is a one-of-kind master teacher who will ensure that your child doesn’t just tinker on the piano, but plays and performs masterfully (yes, even the beginners).
She is dedicated to your child’s success and expects commitment from the child and parent. My children (after having tried several other teachers and programs) made the equivalent of two years’ progress in one year with Ms. Sheryl.
They are miles ahead of other kids who have played for the same number of years and I can proudly call them musicians.
